On February 2, Macy’s, Inc. (NYSE: M) shares climbed 5.84% from the prior session to close at $21.19 on the New York Stock Exchange. Its market capitalization rose to roughly $5.6 billion (about ₩7.6 trillion), with a single-day increase of approximately $350 million (around ₩470 billion).
In its third-quarter results announced in December 2025, Macy’s for the second time this year raised its full-year revenue and earnings guidance, underscoring the early success of its restructuring and turnaround initiatives. That same month, new options maturing in February 2026 began trading, reflecting growing derivative-market wagers on Macy’s stock.
Macy’s—operator of the Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury brands and one of America’s leading department-store chains—is reinforcing an omni-channel strategy that blends its nationwide store network with robust e-commerce offerings. Under its “A Bold New Chapter” plan, the company is executing a major portfolio overhaul: shuttering about 150 underperforming locations by 2026 and redirecting investment toward roughly 350 core stores, smaller-format outlets, and its luxury channel.
