Despite expectations for strong results, Samsara Inc., a U.S.-based IoT fleet management software company, closed at $26.71 on the New York Stock Exchange on the 1st, down 5.85%. Its market capitalization stands at about $9.57 billion (approximately KRW 12.9 trillion), erasing roughly $529 million (around KRW 710 billion) in value in a single day.

In its third quarter of fiscal 2026, announced last December, Samsara reported revenue of $416 million and annual recurring revenue of $1.745 billion, each up 29% year over year, and achieved its first U.S. GAAP profitable quarter. However, the company’s conservative guidance for fourth-quarter revenue has driven continued share-price volatility despite the “earnings surprise.”

Founded in 2015 by Sanjit Biswas and John Bicket in San Francisco, Samsara offers a connected-operations platform that integrates sensors, cameras, and cloud software on vehicles, heavy equipment, and various industrial assets. The platform’s services enhance safety and efficiency for customers in transportation, construction, logistics, and the public sector. Since its 2021 IPO on the NYSE, Samsara has rapidly expanded both revenue and recurring revenue, establishing itself as a growth stock. Yet with high valuation multiples and elevated guidance expectations, it remains highly sensitive to changes in near-term performance outlooks.
