Record Revenue Overshadowed by Massive Impairment Losses: A Turning Point for U.S. Healthcare Giant

By ATTN Desk · Editorial oversight: Sean Han

CVS Health Corp (NYSE: CVS) reported record fourth-quarter 2025 revenues of $105.7 billion, up 8% year-over-year, and full-year revenues of $402.1 billion, a 7% increase (approximately KRW 154 trillion and KRW 585 trillion, respectively). However, GAAP operating income and full-year diluted EPS fell sharply after the company recorded a $5.7 billion goodwill impairment and about $1.2 billion in charges related to past litigation in its Healthcare Delivery segment. On an adjusted basis, EPS was $6.75 for the year, marking double-digit growth. CVS generated approximately $10.6 billion in operating cash flow and issued 2026 guidance for GAAP EPS of $5.94 to $6.14, adjusted EPS of $7.00 to $7.20, and at least $9 billion in operating cash flow, down from its prior target of over $10 billion.

On the 10th, U.S. financial media outlets reported that CVS shares traded lower immediately after the earnings release, despite beating market expectations on both fourth-quarter revenue and adjusted EPS, amid concerns over Medicare coverage and a potential price freeze beyond 2027. Earlier, the company announced cost-structure adjustments, including plans to cut more than 300 positions—primarily remote roles reporting to Aetna’s Connecticut headquarters.

CVS Health is a leading integrated healthcare solutions provider in the United States, combining a nationwide pharmacy chain, clinics, a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), and its insurance subsidiary Aetna to offer Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial health plans. With annual revenues exceeding $400 billion, it ranks among the top U.S. consumer and healthcare companies. The managed care and retail pharmacy industry, including CVS, is entering a period of heightened volatility in performance and valuations amid Medicare Part D reforms under the Inflation Reduction Act, regulatory changes, and ongoing competitor restructuring.
