MongoDB Co-Founder Sells Shares Worth Billions, Still Holds Around 1 Million Shares
On April 1, 14 and 16, several key insiders at US-based developer data platform provider MongoDB, Inc. – including board members, the CEO and a co-founder – executed stock option exercises, saw performance‐based restricted stock units (RSUs) vest and conducted open‐market trades under pre-established 10b5-1 plans. Board member Hope F. Cochran exercised a portion of her options at a $7.58 strike price, selling part of her holding at market price to raise cash while actually increasing her net stake. CEO Dev Ittycheria had thousands of performance‐based RSUs vest all at once; to cover the related tax liability, approximately $6.48 million worth of shares (about ₩9 billion) were withheld by the company, yet he still retains more than 200,000 shares. Co-founder Dwight A. Merriman sold shares worth several million dollars (tens of billions of won) over multiple transactions from both personal holdings and a trust for his children under a 10b5-1 plan, but continues to hold over one million shares in total across direct, trust and foundation ownership.
Meanwhile, in its fiscal 2026 fourth‐quarter results announced on March 2, MongoDB reported quarterly revenue of roughly $690 million, a 27 percent year-over-year increase, and announced the appointment of Erica Volini as Chief Customer Officer to position the company for its next growth phase. The firm has also been investing in product competitiveness, recently rolling out updates that expand AI capabilities within its Atlas cloud database.
