Battlefield 6 Achieves Record Pre-Sales Revenue Amid $70 Billion Acquisition of U.S. Game Company

Electronic Arts Inc. (“EA”) reported preliminary results for the fourth quarter and full fiscal year 2026, with net bookings reaching a record high of approximately $8.0 billion (around KRW 11 trillion), a 9 percent increase year-over-year, driven by the strong performance of Battlefield 6 and growth in live services.

During the same period, operating cash flow rose 23 percent year-over-year to a new record. However, full-year revenue grew by only 1 percent and net income declined versus the prior year. EA also declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.19 per share and completed its debt financing amid robust investor demand.

EA noted that certain regulatory reviews remain pending in connection with its planned all-cash transaction—valuing the company at roughly $55 billion (about KRW 70 trillion)—to be acquired by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. For this reason, EA will not host a conference call following this quarter’s results announcement.

In September 2025, EA entered into a definitive agreement with the consortium to pursue the largest leveraged buyout in history, featuring a cash payment of $210 per share. The company is currently working through regulatory approvals and shareholder votes in multiple jurisdictions prior to closing.

The proposed acquisition has also drawn scrutiny from members of the U.S. Congress, who have raised national security and data privacy concerns and are calling for additional review, underscoring the ongoing political and regulatory debate around the deal.

Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Redwood City, California, EA is a global video game company that delivers titles and services on console, PC, and mobile platforms, leveraging leading intellectual properties such as EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, The Sims, and Battlefield.

As the global gaming industry transitions from packaged sales toward live services and digital downloads, EA is strengthening its recurring-revenue model by focusing on large, long-life IPs and expanding its live service offerings.
