5 Trillion Won Active ETF Quietly Outperforming S&P 500
BlackRock ETF Trust iShares Large Cap Core Active (BLCR) closed at $50.20 on the Nasdaq on May 11, up 1.07% from the previous day, with trading volume of 1.544 million shares. The fund’s market capitalization stands at about $5.5 billion (roughly 7.7 trillion KRW), reflecting a one‐day increase of approximately $60 million (around 80 billion KRW).
Recent coverage in The Wall Street Journal and Yahoo Finance shows that, just two months after being added to BlackRock’s model portfolios, this active ETF’s assets under management have surged from $100 million to over $5 billion. Since its inception, it has outperformed the S&P 500 by roughly 15 percentage points, making it a standout example among large-cap active ETFs.
This fund actively selects U.S. large-cap stocks with the goal of long-term capital appreciation. Although it references the Russell 1000 Index as its benchmark, it operates with a concentrated portfolio strategy. In an environment where passive index ETF fees are under intense pressure, BlackRock’s active iShares lineup has attracted significant inflows despite higher expense ratios, emerging as a new revenue driver for the firm.
