Waste Management Leader Acquires Carolina-Based Company for $225 Million

CLEAN HARBORS INC (CLH) announced on May 14 that it has agreed to acquire Terra Nova Solutions, a hazardous and non-hazardous waste treatment company operating in the Carolinas, for approximately $225 million in cash. Terra Nova generates annual revenues of $45–50 million and roughly $15 million of adjusted EBITDA. With this acquisition, Clean Harbors will add five sites—including wastewater treatment and solidification facilities—more than 100 employees and 150 specialty vehicles to its network. The company expects the deal to strengthen its technical and field service capabilities, expand recurring revenue, create cross-selling opportunities and deliver about $4 million in annual synergies beginning in the first year.

Environmental Services

Earlier, on May 6, Clean Harbors reported record first-quarter 2026 results, with revenue of $1.46 billion, net income of $63.2 million and a 6% increase in adjusted EBITDA. Following these results, the company raised its full-year 2026 guidance for both adjusted EBITDA and adjusted free cash flow. Over the past several years, Clean Harbors has expanded its service offerings and geographic coverage through acquisitions—such as HEPACO—and capital investments; the Terra Nova transaction continues that strategy.
