Autodesk Expands Operations Platform with Acquisition of Maintenance Software

On May 28, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire facilities and operations software provider MaintainX for $3.6 billion in cash—approximately 5 trillion KRW. The transaction will be funded with existing cash and debt. By integrating MaintainX’s equipment maintenance and field-operations workflows, data, and prebuilt integrations into its newly launched Autodesk Operations Solutions platform, Autodesk aims to extend its business and AI-powered capabilities beyond design and manufacturing into the operations phase.

Industrial Software

The acquisition is expected to close within Autodesk’s current fiscal year, pending customary conditions including regulatory approval. Autodesk projects that MaintainX will deliver over $135 million in annual recurring revenue—roughly 2 trillion KRW—in fiscal 2026, growing at more than 50%.

In its fiscal 2026 fourth quarter, which ended in January, Autodesk reported about $1.9 billion in revenue, marking year-over-year growth. The company is set to announce its fiscal 2026 first-quarter results after U.S. markets close on May 28. Earlier this year, Autodesk also implemented an organizational restructuring—cutting around 1,000 jobs—to realign around AI-centric initiatives and optimize its cost structure.

Autodesk is a global leader in 3D design and creation software, offering products such as AutoCAD, Revit, Fusion 360, Maya, and 3ds Max to the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, and entertainment industries. Built on a subscription-based business model, Autodesk has steadily expanded its revenues. The MaintainX acquisition is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive industrial software market by creating an integrated platform that spans design, production, and now operations management.
