Outlet REIT Hits 52-Week High, Market Cap Surges by $400 Million Today
Tanger Inc. (NYSE: SKT) surged 6.56% on June 8, closing at $39.47 on the New York Stock Exchange and extending its 52-week high. Trading volume topped 1.22 million shares, and its market capitalization climbed by about $320 million in a single day to roughly $4.5 billion.
The company recently raised its full-year guidance after reporting growth in revenue and core FFO in the first quarter of 2026, driven by stronger leasing demand. At its annual shareholder meeting for 2026 held last month, proposals for director elections, appointment of auditors and executive compensation were all approved, leaving little uncertainty around its governance.
Headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina, Tanger is a REIT that owns and operates approximately 30 to 40 outlet and open-air shopping centers across the U.S. and Canada. Listed on the NYSE since 1993, the company is once again attracting attention as a defensive consumer asset within the U.S. REIT sector—amid growing expectations that interest rates have peaked—thanks to its high occupancy rates and consistent dividend-growth track record.
