Rare Disease New Drug Stocks Solidifying 7 Trillion Won Valuation

Scholar Rock Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: SRRK) closed at $47.33, up 0.81% from the previous trading day.

Biopharmaceuticals

Its market capitalization stands at approximately $5.67 billion (around KRW 7.9 trillion), having gained about $46 million (roughly KRW 65 billion) in a single session.

The company has resubmitted its Biologics License Application (BLA) for apitegromab, an investigational therapy for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has set a target action date of late September 2026. This pending decision has spotlighted SRRK as a biotech stock poised for a major upcoming event.

In recent years, the share price surged on high expectations for an SMA treatment, but analysts have since raised concerns over valuation levels and increased volatility.

Founded in 2012, Scholar Rock is a U.S. clinical-stage biotech developing antibody-based therapies that target the TGF-β signaling pathway, with a focus on muscle and other rare diseases including SMA.

Although no products are yet commercialized, the company has emphasized to investors that its existing cash runway—bolstered by apitegromab and its follow-on pipeline—should support development and operations through 2027.
