Ares Management Corporation, through its real estate funds, completed a $1.7 billion all-cash acquisition of Whitestone REIT, taking Whitestone private and adding its 54-property retail portfolio to Ares’ platform.

On July 14, 2026, Ares Management Corporation announced that certain Ares Real Estate funds completed the previously announced all-cash acquisition of all outstanding common shares and operating partnership units of Whitestone REIT for $19.00 per share or unit, in a transaction valued at approximately $1.7 billion, resulting in Whitestone’s 54-property, 4.8 million-square-foot, convenience-focused retail portfolio across high-growth U.S. markets being added to Ares’ real estate platform and Whitestone’s securities ceasing to trade on any public exchange.
