On June 4, 2026, SS Innovations International, Inc. announced that it successfully completed what it describes as the world’s longest-distance robotic cardiac telesurgery using its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console, with CEO and cardiac surgeon Dr. Sudhir Srivastava operating from Guyana on a patient in India over approximately 12,500 miles (20,000 kilometers) of network distance. The procedure, a Left Internal Mammary Artery (LIMA) takedown, linked IRCAD India in Indore with Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in Guyana, operated with 290–300 millisecond latency, and was supported in India by several cardiac surgeons. The company highlighted this as part of Guyana’s National Robotic Surgery Program launch, noted that this represents a record distance for robotic telesurgery and contributes to a total of 173 telesurgeries performed globally with SSi Mantra (22 of which were cardiac), and disclosed that the system recently received regulatory approval from Guyana’s GA-FDD, bringing total country approvals to 14.
