These initiatives, including LBNL’s Project GeoTrace and a digital twin-based repository design platform, and USC’s AI-STRATA3D subsurface modeling project, are intended to modernize and accelerate characterization and evaluation of long-term nuclear waste disposal sites while maintaining safety and scientific rigor, and further integrate Deep Isolation’s borehole data and engineering know-how into advanced AI-driven workflows for future repository development.
